Short Stories (back to menu)
Here are a few extracts from some my short stories, some published, others not. I will try and offer a different selection of mainly science fiction and fantasy stories on a regular basis.
I think this is a slipstream story. Strange beings from another place arrive on earth and run amok with human emotions. First published in SCI-FRIGHT magazine, April/May edition 1999.
A science fiction tale of one man's startling discovery whilst repairing a satellite.
Another science fiction story. In the near future the arms race takes a chilling turn.
I wrote this one for a course I was doing. The tutor suggested the title and this is what my imagination came up with! It's slipstream fiction I suppose. First published in Scheherazade magazine, issue 20.
First published in KIMOTA magazine, Issue 14. This is a hard Science Fiction story about the aftermath of mechanised warfare.
This one is a fantasy intruding into reality type story, and not to everyone's taste I've found. First published in SCI-FRIGHT magazine, April/May edition 2000.
First published in Here and Now magazine, the fabulous double Issue 5/6. This one is a Science fiction story about genetic science and its affect on one young individual.
First published in Here and Now magazine, Issue 3. This one is a fantasy comedy affair about the adventures of a young Orc in a very familiar world.
Pure fantasy this one. A Story about a broody dragon who is sold a mysterious egg by an itinerant giant. First published in DRAGONWYND magazine, Volume II 1999.
First published in Monomyth magazine, Issue 25. I think this one might be slip stream. It's my attempt at doing something deep and meaningful, see what you think.
First published in Monomyth magazine, Issue 25. Definitely hard sf this one, sort of Zulu in space. You'll see what I mean when you read it.
This one is a science fiction comedy. An ageing SUMP agent takes on one more mission, the small task of saving a minor planet from destruction.
First published in KIMOTA magazine, April 98. A comedy fantasy of one man's unwilling journey into the past.
First published in KIMOTA magazine, Dec. 96. A fantasy story of a boy and his apprenticeship to a mage.
Another pure science fiction piece. It's mainly a character study about people relying on only one of their senses, hence the title. First published in Roadworks magazine, April/May edition 2000.
A rarity for me; a crime thriller about an old woman's courage in the face of adversity.
Novel Extracts (back to menu)
Here are a few chapters from some of my novels. These are mostly first drafts so may be a little raw. Some of the themes and content should be considered adults only. Although there is nothing too explicit or gory I feel a warning is appropriate.
A long pseudo-medieval novel about a young man's journey.
This one is a hard science fiction novel, mainly about robots and humans.
An adult high magic fantasy about mages and wizards.
A short fantasy novel about the fight between good and misguided. Available now from Hadesgate Publications.
The Servicing and Maintenance of Wayland Snowball
An adults only Science fiction comedy. Released in September 2006 from Hadesgate Publications.
Scripts (back to menu)
Just of couple of Scripts for you here. Both have been sent to various literary agents, and roundly ignored! Some of the themes and content should be considered adults only. Although there is nothing too explicit or gory, again, I feel a warning is appropriate.
I came up with this one when I heard strange noises from a neighbours house. It's a kind of social commentary.
The Realities of Co-inhabiting with Alien Species
A Science fiction comedy I wrote for the BBC search for a thingy competition. No I didn't win!
